Hi Bill ! Overall, I never felt unsafe in GDL during my time there. American med students like myself knew that there were areas of the city to avoid, especially after dark. Drug cartels had always operated there, although not as boldly as they do today. As long as you kept your nose clean and minded your own business, there was little to worry about. Still, my housemates and I were aware that a person in Mexico could easily disappear unnoticed and the police would offer no assistance. It was a sobering reminder to always be vigilant without being unduly stressed.

Hola mijo! I am so sorry that I was unable to attend the live taping today. There were some complications here where I am staying. I lost track of time and missed my favorite show of the week. I am so happy to be able to pick it up now and watch 2:17 to find out what is new in Mexico.

I love having my SUV available for day trips, but I can go one or two weeks without even using the car, but riding on those buses isn't fun - too crowded and too many topas.

I love Mexico; however, there's more than one Mexico, because it's a cultural experience that's different in different locations. I notice smaller villages are more poor in Mexico and people don't have a lot of money to spend it appears. Still, the people are amazing and they are wonderful people wherever you go. So many people have good values and they are very honest and reliable - it is important to respect everyone. I have several friends like a cobbler that are amazing - they want to benefit you any way they can, but they don't want charity at all - they want to benefit YOU. The best you can do is visit them often!!! When visiting smaller villages I like to blend in and show locals they are appreciated - talk to them and laugh with them, because it's an amazing experience. Please pay attention to small villages and compliment those that live there!!!

Just say no to drugs and be careful where you go at night.😮😅

Not what I expected for sure. but it's weird how they lump all of Baja into one category bc it stretches from the border to Cabo. and they divide it into NOrth and South with separate capitols. anyway, Glad I'm leaving Baja soon for Jalisco. Better odds:)

San Miguel de Allende which was just voted the top city in the world to live by Travel and Leisure magazine is in the state of Guanajuato. I think San Miguel is fairly safe because they have a lot of expats living and visiting there and they have a lot of police and security. I've lived there and it's a great little city.

I'm really excited to see you in Morelia. We're in the Lake Chapala area and are going to check out Morelia coming up this winter to see about moving out of the gringo bubble. Ajijic/SAT have been a great landing spot, but we've been here just over a year, and I think early next year we'll be ready to move into a more affordable area. I believe Morelia will fit the bill. I look forward to more of your videos.

We moved to Morelia in 2020, right when the pandemic was exploding. The peso hit 24 a couple times. Eventually the Super Peso drove it down to 16.6. Having experienced such wild swings, along with high inflation, I am content that it seems to be settling around 19 pesos to one U.S. dollar.

I wanted to visit Morella once when I was touring Mexico with three teens on board - also, there's a town just SW of there that makes all the guitars in Mexico, so it would be nice for the teens to visit that factory; however, I avoided the area because back then there was cartel activity in SW Michoacan. Once they had a shoot out between Morellia and Guadalajara on the freeway. We also encountered some military and local village stops along the coastal Hwy. in Michoacan to counter cartel activities. It was funny seeing bazookas and pre-WWI rifles that the locals had - no fear of them even having ammo for those antiques, but we accommodated the locals and talked with them for a while. Everyone wants a safe place to live and many people abandoned their homes when the cartel takes over the town.

on the beach (Mexico) 7 years paid 2700 pesos never got rise 3 bed rooms etc .. 🤔, today 2500 pesos one block from the beach casi best area in town, same city one bed room , yes things change (prices foods) but , you are riche or stupid to pay more , i respect Mexico and like the place (15 years ) but I am not a bobo and now, to by a house is to be a fool , no thank you , good day a everybody!..

The value of the peso is considered against the dollar, not in itself, back until the 90s the peso stayed on $ 12.50 then the corrupt presidents began to subside Mexico riches to the few millionaires and that´s when the peso drop it´s value and rocketed to $20+ If you can understand the strength of the peso, you won't talk shit?!

There are hundreds of great towns and small cities in Mexico even nicer and cheaper with less foreigners. BTW Spanish is a super easy language to pronounce and completely phonetic. Your mispronunciation of the vowels hurt my ears.

That's the best news I've heard out of Mexico in a long time! I hope to be able to move to Mexico in the future, but at this time I have family obligations here in the US. My only retirement income is Social Security so I will definately be living on a small budget and hope to stretch it by living in Mexico.

Thanks Bill and sending blessing to you from Phx. AZ. I'll likely be moving to Mex. this winter, because I have an offer in progress (finally). I usually go to PV and usually during the summer, so I always get the seasonal discount while staying there AND it's way cooler than Phx. Claudia says she wants to benefit the poor in Mexico and there's lots of them, so I do hope they get some help, but more social spending in Mexico could see the Peso drop further.
